We interviewed 15 coffee baristas, visited 20 famous cafes, and spoke to innumerable coffee enthusiasts to prepare a list of 20 best coffee beans in the UK.

We then tested those coffee beans on various indicators including content, roast level, strength, flavor, preparation time, and ease of brewing.

Thus, while we originally selected 20 coffee beans, our final list shrinked to 10.
And of these 10, the Little Coffee Box Coffee Beans are the best on the UK market.
Not only do they give a dark roast level – which is popular among coffee enthusiasts – but these coffee beans can be prepared in any equipment, have a caramelized brown sugar flavor and provide a rich aroma.

Harboryam Arabico Napoletano – Coffee Beans Review

Neither too bitter nor too sour, the Harboryam Arabico are very well-balanced and full bodied coffee beans.

They are also very smooth and creamy to guarantee a clean aftertaste once you’re done with them.

Similar to the Colombian means mentioned above, they are suitable for any equipment.

For espresso machine, grind the beans accordingly to suit your taste.

You need to grind them very fine to achieve decent strength.

We also tried making macchiato and latté and the taste was rich and bold.

Real Colombia Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee 227 g

The Brown bear Real consists of toffee apple and roasted hazelnuts which provide the original taste of a coffee with just the right concentration of acidity.

Their aroma is fantastic and while the flavor is complex, the majority will like it.

We tried making cappuccino and latté. Even with the espresso shot, there was no bitter aftertaste.

They are also very smooth and the aroma is appealing. We prefer preparing them as espresso.

Lavazza Qualita Rossa Coffee Beans 1kg Review

Proving the veracity of the claim of their manufacturer, these coffee beans are rich in taste and full-bodied.

Their quality is also consistent regardless of how many cups you prepare.

Also, since they are 60% Robusta, these coffee beans give a high dose of caffeine. So, if you have to stay late in the night, these coffee beans are your perfect companion.

We love making milk-based drinks out of these beans.

That said, the coffee wasn’t too great as brewed coffee and the aroma was normal. The end product was smooth and dark but it lacked intensity.

Fairly good coffee for a low price, which makes it great for everyday consumption.

    The Good
    • Premium quality and taste
    • Well-rounded flavor and not too bitter
    The Bad
    • Has less aroma as compared to other brands
    • Lacks intensity

Lavazza Super Crema Coffee Beans Review

In comparison to the below mentioned Qualita Rosita, the Super Crema beans are better for milk-based coffees such as cappuccinos and lattés.

It makes great crema. Also, thanks to the presence of roasted almonds, it gives off a better aroma.

Overall, these beans have mild and creamy taste.

However, the end product is quite bland when brewed so we prefer it with milk and sugar to augment the taste.

There’s nothing special about these beans but they are decent if you are tight on a budget.

    The Good
    • Great for milk-based drinks
    • Has great crema
    • Cheap for a decent coffee
    The Bad
    • Has less aroma as compared to other brands

Kimbo Extra Cream Espresso Beans 1Kg Review

Complementing its name, the Kimbo ‘’Extra Cream’’ provides more crema and the aroma is also excellent.

They result in a strong espresso which is very smooth but also not too bitter, with each sip taking you on an imaginary to a coffee shop.

We were really delighted with the espresso we made from these beans. It was full of strength, very rich and dark.

The crema was also better when you compare it with those of other brands. Also, they give a strong presence, enough to keep you up at night..

Hence, if you’re looking for a strong coffee with great crema, these beans are what you need.

However, if you’re on a budget, there are better alternatives.

Hampshire Coffee Co - Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Review

As one might expect from Ethiopian coffee beans, the Hampshire Coffee gives off a fruity flavor that also has a lovely aroma of its own.

The end product is not that strong and can be enjoyed even by casual coffee drinkers.

We loved making brewed coffee out of these beans because the aroma was so fantastic and relaxing.

We also prepared coffee using them on French press and on espresso machine.

The taste had nice fruity undertones without any bitterness.

    The Good
    • Complex flavor, well-balanced
    • Fruity Undertone, No Bitterness
    The Bad

Suma Fairtrade Organic Honduras Coffee Beans 1 kg

The Suma Fairtrade produces a consistent hazelnut aroma and you’ll also enjoy its spicy aroma and dark chocolate.

Also, despite the fact that these coffee beans give off a strong flavor, you still won’t have to deal with a bitter aftertaste.

We used French press and filter and we’ve easily got the taste we like.

The flavor was not complex, hence the reason why we think there’s nothing special about these coffee beans.

    The Good
    • Fair trade
    • Great aroma and taste
    • Pleasant dark chocolate notes
    The Bad

    Italian Aroma Coffee SUPREMO Review

The Italian Aroma Coffee beans give of an Italian taste which is famous for its strength and boldness.

Their end product has a dark chocolate tone so they result in an excellent espresso. Also, the Supremo has an unrivalled aroma.

The espresso we made from these beans had thick crema.

A mere sniff will tell you how strong the aroma is.

And since their bitterness didn’t made the coffee intolerable, we tried them for making latte, cappuccino, and mocha with good results.

That said, the taste was, at best, average.

    The Good
    • Great and relaxing aroma
    • Strong and bold
    The Bad
    • Average taste

Taylors of Harrogate Espresso Beans 1 Kg Review

These coffee beans are strong and full bodied. They provide a smooth and bitter that is perfect for people who are used to having strong coffee.

It means that while they are great for brewing, the Taylors aren’t that good for milk-based drinks.

On grinding them for the first time, we were greeted by their intense aroma.

Milk-based drinks don’t go excellently with these beans, as per standard milk and coffee ratio.

We must say that we didn’t particularly enjoyed the coffee due to strong and bitter aftertaste.

    The Good
    • Relatively cheap coffee for a great espresso
    • Very strong and can keep you up all night
    • A dark roast taste that you will never forget
    The Bad
    • It’s too bitter for most people

Frequently asked questions

What is a Coffee Bean?

A coffee bean is a seed that is derived from a plant called coffea.

They are called beans because they resemble actual beans.

A processed coffee bean drink is what we call coffee.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying your own Coffee Beans?

Advantages

  • You have all the control over your coffees. You can adjust the grind size and the water temperature, for example.

  • You can experiment on the ingredients that you want to include in your normal cup of coffee. Milk or cream? Brown or white sugar? You decide.

  •  It is less expensive than buying from coffee shops.

  • You can make quality coffee in the comfort of your home.

  • You must store your coffee beans in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.

  • You must clean your coffee devices every time you use them.

What should I look for when choosing a brand of Coffee Beans?

Here’s what you should look for when choosing a coffee bean’s brand:

Degree of Roast

Light, medium, or dark roast? Light roast coffee retains the origin flavor of the coffee.

It has a gentle flavor and a light aroma as well.

It has the highest acidity among the three. Medium roast coffee sits between acidity and flavor intensity.

Dark roast has the boldest flavor among the three, and the origin flavor of the coffee has almost worn off.

Arabica or Robusta

Second, you must choose between Arabica and Robusta coffee. Robusta has stronger taste and has more caffeine. Arabica has smoother taste.

Price

If it’s your first time buying coffee beans, don’t go for the most expensive brand.

The price doesn’t dictate the taste. It’s best to start with low to medium prices available on the market.

For example, Kopi Luwak is very expensive but the taste is inconsistent and most of the time, terrible.

Popularity

Coffee brands become popular mainly because of their quality, consistency, and taste.

However, it doesn’t mean that less popular brands are not good, either.

Company profile.

Before buying a coffee brand, you might want to look up their company’s website and read their profile.

How long are they in the industry? Where do they acquire their coffee? Have they received any awards?

What’s the approximate price range for good Coffee Beans?

Coffee beans’ prices range between £10 and £20, plus delivery charges.

Where do the best coffee beans in the world come from?

It all comes down to the personal taste preference.

What are the best organic coffee beans?

Some of the best organic coffee beans are Cafédirect Machu Picchu, Café Saula, and Suma Colombia.

What’s the best unroasted/green coffee bean?

For those of you who want to roast their coffee beans themselves, they should go for Redber Ethiopia Yirgacheffe or Rohebohnen.de Arabica Brazil Santos.
