Richard Weylman is a marketing coach and public speaker. His approach seems different than most as from his web site advice, it’s mainly geared on how to meet and what to say to wealthy people. Some tips seem very strange like to meet rich people, Richard Weylman says to write down tail numbers of private planes at airports.
Also things like handing out your personal card to a rich person instead of your business card, I don’t see the value in that since it’s unlikely most people are going to remember what you do, instead I’d list a personal line on a business card as well and include a color photo on the card. After a thorough look through “marketing tips” I find most of them very vague.
To be fair, his methods seem to be aimed at the corporate world, few small business people are going to host client appreciation events or gala luncheons. Still some of the advice I disagree with, it’s either too much or too little (like tracking a customers preferences, children, and grandchildren). I don’t see how that would appeal to a client by asking what his daughter or granddaughter is up to.
There’s just too much focus on how to schmooze rich people here and not enough concrete advice on business marketing for me. I personally am wealthy and if someone came up to me and starting asking me about my personal interests using the advice Richard Weylman gives, I’d think they were coming on to me. Overall, there’s much better titles on Amazon about networking and building personal relationships than this. If you want to learn how to suck up to rich people, there might be a few tips for you to find there.
