Reece Franklin has written several specialty books on promotions for specific fields. These include “The Consultant’s Guide to Publicity : How to Make a Name for Yourself by Promoting Your Expertise” which emphasizes getting media attention for publicity of your firm. This kind of exposure can often be the most valuable type when done well.
Being mentioned in the media gives you broad name recognition and having a news agency mention you in a non paid article gives credibility as well. Reece A. Franklin also goes over not just how to do it yourself, but the positives and negatives of either doing it yourself or hiring an agency to do this kind of promotion. Reviews for this title are very positive on amazon.com and I’d recommend it to any firm that wants public exposure.
Also Reece Franklin has written several titles for the Dental industry like “Dental Internal Marketing from Standard Marketing Procedures for All Dentists”. While this is a narrow topic, I’d agree with the author that most dentists need help in this area. With the money they make from one loyal client you would think they’d pay more attention to effective advertising and promotions compared with the occasional late night cable commercial.
There’s also books like “Inventor’s Marketing Handbook: A Complete Guide to Selling and Promoting Your Invention” which concentrates on helping a patent holder to market and distribute their inventions. This series is a great resource for something for which there’s very little useful information on the Internet about. Most invention companies have a vested interest in getting you to rack up consulting fees in the promotion of your product. I’d highly recommend this as a starting point for all investors.
