NuSkin

As far as I know, NuSkin requires a $35 initial membership fee and a annual renewal fee of $20. Here’s one little thing I didn’t like about the NuSkin distributor policy: It appears NuSkin has told all of their “distributors” to not mention the NuSkin name in any advertising or even on business cards that may be distributed in masses.

I think the reason is because many people get turned off just by hearing/reading the name of the MLM’s. Each of us invariably has been “approached” by an MLM person and more often than not the experience was not a good one.

NuSkin has also had some dealings with the FTC and the court system in general that have turned me off to joining. NuSkin also got some negative publicity in national magazines and newspapers. NuSkin may have cleaned up its act since then…that’s something I can’t tell you. Speaking only for myself, I’d prefer to get involved with a company that had no problems from the get-go.

I also don’t like their quotas and demands they put on their distributors.

Nuskin requires a large personal volume to qualify for commissions. If you don’t meet that volume, you don’t qualify. You’ll also probably have to buy inventory to keep in stock and you’ll probably have to try to collect money owed by customers yourself.

    Jason,

Should you do your homework, you will find that NuSkin Enterprises is publically (in a manner observable by or in a place accessible to the public) traded on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) their id is NUS. Everything is open to the public and therefore no one should have any reason to assume or use the phrases “you’ll probably” or “as far as I know”.

Your assumptions are incorrect regarding the inventory required, the use of business cards ( all distributors may use the company information with their own name, Independent Distributor and contact information listed) Your opinions should be stated as opinions and not fact. Comment such as yours are the reason people in general will get the wrong impression about the network marketing industry.

As far as quotas or demands, this is a business for each individual who desires the personal freedom of working their own hours and accomplishing goals they wish for themselves as individuals. Each person takes responsibility for their own success.

As for the media, perhaps your accessibility has been limited. Perhaps a visit to http://www.nsevideos.com is in order. One can observe a lot of happy excited people there.

On a personal level, my experience has been a positive and rewarding journey and I am happy that I made this very important choice.

I wish you a good day and hope you will take the time to correct your statements.

Thks for a good objective article.
My sister in law just called me asking me to join a meeting about some new products where also antidocksiants should be measured. I googled and found it had to be Nu Skin products. Of course, she did not mentioned the name and tried not to inform me about anything than that this was great products. This is typical for pyramide sales..
Although I realize that NuSkin in facts is on New York stock Exchange. SO, if this is such a great product – why on earth dont they sell it over the counter – only from homeparties?

What also concerns me is that when I google Nu Skin typically info as written in the reply above appears. Not much objective articles appears or any negative ones. Seems like a NuSkin must have several people to write a loooot of things on the web to their advantage in order to confuse anyone that would like to investigate.

    Dear TMF,
Your sister in law was giving you an opportunity like no other. Nuskin has come along way from just skin care. They are a research engine for anti aging products and have so much in the pipeline, if i were you i’d get in now. Vitality alone, will trump anything thus far…a new energy supplement that will fly out of your kitchen room walls….why would you want some huge marketing company putting it over the counter, and not allowing you to benefit from sales ….think outside the box my dear…you’ll never regret it.

    Dear all,

There are alot of MLMs. They has different commission pay plan, and not every plan is designed for failure. However, most of people are uneducated, no research skill, always come up with “Pyramid scheme.” If you are smart and well educate, you should know that the Pyramid is the strongest structure on earth. You U.S. government is the Pyramid structure. Can you imagine that if U.S. Pyramid structure is collapse?

Many companies out there at least have an experience in law suit, because of scam people. McDonald, Wal-Mart, Microsoft, Apple, Insurance industries, and even your government got sued by others people. Microsoft comes out every Window Operating system, and there are always some new viruses crated.

You need to look back to your current financial and what you are current doing. Do you think you can create a life style or you just make to survive. Bad new is majority of American people survive on their pay check to pay check. Not just only that, American people are born to complain and depend on their government.

You are so smart that you did not know that almost everything you use daily is come from MLMs market. Such as home mortgage, home insurance, car insurance, and your job are MLM.

If there are MLM market is legal, ethical, moral, then would you do it? However, in MLM you can help yourself to make income in a short time to supplement your current income, would you do it?

I started with NuSkin at it’s inception. I loved their products and their philosophy. The research was in it’s infancy then, and I was very eager to continue. I was a distributor for around 10-12 yrs., then I decided to pursue a career in another direction–other than MLM’s, and became an MT. Six or seven yrs. ago I decided to check in again and I found that they had elevated their company by adding many new and innovative products. I didn’t rejoin because the skin care I loved now contains vitamin E, to which I have an allergic reaction. I’m now checking into it again, to see more new products. I may just rejoin.

I have recently watched a presentation on how the business model works and it the chap who did recons he earns 100’s of thousands of pounds per year. I would obviously like a slice, but sceptical of it and how difficult it would be trying to convince people to sign up to it as if we are honest, it does initially sound dodgy.

Does anyone know of anyone that has earned real money from it?

    Thanks
    Karen

I had become a distributer years ago to simply get the discount on the products, not to sell them, and eventualy lost interest as I wasin my twenties and skin care was not the most important thing on my mind at the time. However I tried the galvanic spa a few weeks ago. I’m 49 now and I can tell you that I have a completly different interest in skin care now and have for over 15 years or so! This thing WORKS! No fooling! It has not gotten rid of my frinkles yet completly, but my eye area is lifted again, no hooding at all, and on my right eye at the corner the crows feet are barely detectable! Also my large pores are practicaly invisable with no trace of blackheads. That s only after two weeks! MY NECK… that was getting sort of crepy, but I cant believe how supple it is now! My whole face feels and looks lifted. You know when you look down to the floor below you and you can feel your face falling? Well I dont have that sensation now… I cannot wait to see what I look like in one month! I just became a distruibuter again and you better believe I am sharing this with the ones I love and with anyone who will listen… This stuff works! You do not have to look old and tired any more and you do NOT have to go under the knife to get that way! Bravo Nuskin!

  12. Tracy says:

Also, I did not pay any fee to start up, and I am free to work this business to the hilt or not, my choice! I know how people feel about some mlm companies, I will agree that some are useless. But the principals of mlm are solid, and yes, what our government is founded on so to speak, the differance is the product you sre selling. PERIOD! If you have a product people see really does what it says it will do, it will sell, and others will want to sell it.. just find a way to try it, you will see, the products sell them selves..

I can attest to th fact, there are no annual renewal or membership fees. As a distributor, the only required purchase to start is a $25 not for profit information packet. Any initial purchase of $50 or more and the $25 dollars is waived.

We are on a tremendous growth wave here in the US right now and with the projected growth of the the personal and skin care markets, the timing has never been better to start up in the business.

Look at what you hae been doing in your life and where it has gotten you. If you are not whee you want to be, you need to change what you are doing. Look at what you are doing and ask yourself if it will get you to where you want to be. Most likely it won’t get you there.

No job is ever going to give anyone financial security or freedom, except for in a very few cases. We are also opening up new international markets as well.

    Hi Karen

A late reply on your question.
I know a lot of people who earns good money with the NuSkin business. It is possible for all, but a lot of people choose to quit after a few no’s or other bad results.

First of all…Don’t try to convice anyone and don’t try to sell, the business is a opportunity, but there are many people who just don’t wanna hear about it, eventhough they are struggling with economics or other bad things in their life.

I have been a customer for years, but the past year I have been working with the business, and I know a lot of the people who are very successfull, and its fantastic to see some of the goals beeing reached. When I’m struggling with my business, there are a lot of help from other NuSkin collegues, and I don’t know any other business that offers that kind of support and help.

People who don’t understand why NuSkin choose this way, what do you prefer. A commercial with bull or a friend telling you their experience with some products, showing you a website where you can buy directly from the manufacturer.
Actually some of the traditional companies are using personal recommendation, witch just show that this is a strong way.

It makes me smile, when i see the “sponsor id” details here…I’m not gonna add mine :-) no reason to make this a sale comment…

    Happy newyear

    Hi everyone,

I’m seriously considering joining a friend who has been in the Nuskin business for years. My concerns with the business are it had some bad publicity (lawsuit pertaining to false advertising) in the past. I went to a presentation years ago and the impression i got was most of the Nuskin team leaders were always trying to sell other people the concept of selling other people the concept of selling other people the concept……. What is the real value you are delivering to your team if they don’t emphasize on the products itself. Perhaps, now they have changed their business approach? I’m not trying to be critical here but wanted to do all my due diligences if i’m thinking about starting a long term business. I need to know that the company is reputable. Have Nuskin clean up their act?

TMF mentioned that her sister did not mention Nuskin as the company doing the presentation. That’s odd if your are trying to convince someone to join the business but you can’t be honest and tell them who you work with. Is there any other objective websites that I can visit that review Nuskin business other than sales website?

    Thanks,
    Gwen

    Hi Gwen,

regarding the lawsuit check this web site: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/1997/08/nuskin3.shtm

The specific products weren’t sufficiently supported by various (clinical) studies as per Federal Trade Commission. It was solved, Nu Skin submitted the studies, the certificates are absolutely reliable. Since then it has been proved that chromium (picolinate) aids in sugar metabolism.

I attended a few presentations about Nu Skin products and business opportunity. Wasn’t too impressed by the presenting leaders about the business. It was all like pressure sale to me.

Contradictory, I was more than fascinated by the products and all the science behind them!! Measure is a basis of all science and this company uses it! The products are absolutely revolutionary in wellness, health and prevention, and anti-aging industry. The numerous Nu Skin patents or patent pending technologies used in the products made me realize that someone somehow is going to introduce them to the public market and the question in my mind was whether I want to be part of it or not…That eventually people will find it out. Are they going to find out through me or through somebody else?

Nu Skin is not responsible for how well one does in his or her business. They make products and people have the choice to use them and become their consumers, and/or use them and take the opportunity to market them.

Nu Skin won the Stevie award (like an Oscar in business field) for the most innovative company in 2010 and I am proud I have joined my name with such a great business partner.

The good thing is that now in the era of internet, you don’t have to go chasing you warm market (family and friends) to be successful in network marketing. There are a lot of people out there waiting for what you have to offer them. A powerful and user friendly manual can be found here (oh, if I just found it before I had spent a lot of $$$ on different ones…): http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?af=1440252
It took me in my Nu Skin business into a different exciting level.

    Successfully,
    Petra

TMF you don’t know what the hell you are talking about, don’t spout your mouth off when you have NO knowledge on the subject. Nuskin is one of the top MLM preferred companies to work for with some of the best products in their field. I suggest you read a new book called ‘The Aging Myth’ and it will explain all. You obviously don’t know anything about direct marketing, if you did you would know that A: they are not Pyramid Schemes as you suggest and you would also know that the reason they market their products this way is to cut out the middle men making all the money, helping distributors and marketing products as a lot cheaper costs. Would you really want to pay several hundred dollars for a pot of their amazing skincare in a retail store? Because of their top quality products this is what you would pay in a store, the average skincare in a retail store costs around $2.50 a pot to produce and you will pay around $70, for a skincare by the way that does not do much for your skin at all. Do you homework next time or don’t comment!

Looked into NuSkin but the issue I have is that the market is saturated with the products. People are dumping them on sites such as eBay like crazy at very reduced prices. I wanted to try a few of the products and bought the whole 2012, NIB, Galvanic spa package ( spa with products, the Dvd’s, product guides, etc,) and even extra boxes of the treatment gels for just under $200. Free shipping, too. Maybe wholesale is a lot less than that. I don’t know. But NuSkin has it listed on their site as MSRP $450. This product saturation seems to drive down selling costs and therefore drive down part of commissionable sales.

Other pyramidal companies like CaBi only allow so many sales people per region to prevent over saturation. Companies like Obagi and NeoCutis have launched great initiatives to prevent unauthorized online selling of their products to help maintain the integrity of their skin care lines and to keep prices up.

Also, it raises a red flag to me when so many people roll their eyes when NuSkin is mentioned. For some reason there is a HUGE volume of consumers out there who think badly of the company.

I do believe you can make it a profitable adventure BUT I think it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort before you get there. People just need to really do their research to make sure it is for them. I know that they report what they pay out and what an average monthly payment is to any given employee BUT what was not subtracted from that number was the amount of promo items purchased, gas spent, money invested in marketing, etc. just things to think of.

Now, I believe they are a decent company with good products. But, it wasn’t for me.

(Also, as a Medi-Spa owner, and previous potential distributor of these products in my Medi-Spa, it doesn’t look very well upon NuSkins reputation when their associates are using profanities and blogging harsh, inappropriate responses to anyone who has an opinion about the company (see above). With all those other training videos and meetings they should invest on one in professionalism.)
