Marketing Tips

Ok, up above we just talked about things to avoid. Now lets talk about the things that you should be sure you ARE DOING! Below are a nine of the most powerful marketing tips you can use.

Marketing tips #1. Write all of your materials including your website and sales letters like you were talking to a friend. Don’t write like you are talking at them or only giving stiff, cold instructions like a robot. Try to avoid using big complicated words and try to write your materials fairly casual. Your customers will be less likely to want to order from you if they don’t feel like they can relate to you. So write clear, easy, and smooth.

Marketing tips #2. Use short words and short sentences when possible. Most people hate reading complicated stuff.

Marketing tips #3. Also try to make your paragraphs small and short. I probably make mine even too big in this course. If I were to re-write this course, I’d probably make my paragraphs even smaller. It’s a known fact among all professional ad copywriters that people will enjoy and digest information more easily if it’s in little paragraphs of about 4 lines each. I don’t know if you can even call them paragraphs when they’re that small, so maybe we should refer to them as small sentence blocks. Anyway, you definitely want plenty of white space on your pages. I think the main reason for this is because most people don’t read every word you write. Instead, people tend to skim read and their eyes will scan pages of ad copy looking at the beginning words of each paragraph for something interesting.

Marketing tips #4. Be sure to use plenty of testimonials from happy customers.

Marketing tips #5. In all of your writing, be sure you follow a logical order so each of the points you try to make connect together seamlessly and smooth. Each point you just made should go on to help make the next point. Tell your reader exactly who you are and exactly what credentials you have that make your materials well worth reading.

Marketing tips #6. Be sure to tell your readers to contact you if they have any questions. And of course, be sure to give them a way to easily contact you or someone who can take calls for you.

Marketing tips #7. Be sure to run a spelling check on everything you write. Misspelled words make you look incredibly unprofessional and amateur. I know you’ll find several in this course, but this is not a sales letter. And this is not your first impression of me. If you go back and look at my sales letters and website for this course, you’ll notice there are no spelling errors on it. By the way, I am working to locate and fix the spelling errors in this course, but part of the reason I leave a few is actually intentional. When people see that my course is not published by a famous publisher and they see that it’s not fully edited, they truly understand how simple it really is to make your own information product. Especially when my readers see that I create, produce, and publish this material right from my house! This is proof that if I can do it, they can do it too! This causes my readers to “Go For It” and begin creating their own products and making disgusting amounts of cash from a spare bedroom in their house the same way I do. But I’ve got us side-tracked here. Let’s get back to the original point I was trying to make up above. NEVER allow any spelling mistakes or grammar errors to exist on your sales material or website. You’ll lose customers faster than you can blink! Proof read everything several times and even try to get a friend, family member, or business associate to proof read your sales materials once too! I’ve some times proof read a sales letter several times myself and still didn’t see certain errors. Getting others to check your sales materials for mistakes is important.

Marketing tips #8. Remember, the more clearly you write your information the first time, the less questions you’re going to have to answer later. So save yourself some work and think of every question a reader might have as you do your writing.

Marketing tips #9. Everyone knows the most powerful word in marketing is “FREE” so be sure and use it. But you also better be able to back it up by actually providing the free materials you promise. If you try to sucker people in and abuse the word “Free” in your sales letter or on your website, people will quickly get away from you as if you were a skunk. And if you aren’t providing the free things you advertise, then you are a skunk! So be careful on this one. Don’t say the word “Free” unless you’re absolutely certain that your reader will not have to spend one penny to get your free offer.
