There’s a myth floating around that “marketing hype” doesn’t work anymore. The people that make this claim usually believe that internet shoppers are highly educated and therefore only listen to a more professional/academic type of ad copy.
Many marketers still think that a sales letter or website chalked full of “Sizzle” and “Hype” will scare the more intelligent readers/prospects away. But it’s just a proven fact that hyped up words such as “Astonishing”, “Remarkable”, “Amazing”, “Like Magic”, “Incredible”, etc. still work best at bringing in sales!
Only a very small percentage will be “Turned Off” by this type of hyped up marketing approach. Tests from several veterans of marketing including myself have conclusively proven that your orders will double and triple when you use glamorous and exciting words that are considered to be hyped up a bit. After using words and phrases like “Free Bonus”, “Act Now”, “Don’t Wait”, “Fantastic”, “All New”, “Proven”, “The Truth”, “Enormous”, “Astounding”, etc. increased my sales by over 144%. So hype is not dead!
We have all grown up listening to this type of hype on commercials and infomercials so we not only enjoy it, WE EXPECT IT! Yes, it’s a fact that most consumers respond and enjoy being sold to the old fashioned hyped up way you still see on TV. If you don’t know exactly what type of hype I’m talking about, just turn on your TV early on Saturday or Sunday morning and watch some of those half hour infomercials and pay attention to their sales approach. It’s all marketing hype! But it works and if used correctly it pushes the buying buttons inside us all.
Yes, there are certain phrases and words that trigger that part of our mind that says “Yes, I need that!” “I want that thing right now!” Or “I can’t live without that item!”
I used to watch those infomercials all the time on Saturday and Sunday morning to learn for myself how to push the “Buying Button” inside consumers. I love watching that kind of marketing hype My family used to think I was nuts because after all, how many people purposely wake up in the morning and flip channels until they find a good long commercial to watch? Not many. But I’m guessing most of the best marketers in the world have studied commercials the same way I did.
Once you understand the basics behind those “Buying Buttons” and “Buying Triggers” inside consumers you don’t need to keep studying commercials. I studied commercials for about 3 Saturdays and 3 Sundays over 8 years ago and I haven’t paid much attention to them since then. Because I know and understand their secret hyped up sales methods and principles. I’ve been writing my own hyped up sales letters for the past 8 years and they’ve proven to bring me over a million dollars so far. Yes, marketing hype has made me wealthy.
I’ve experimented with writing dry “No-Hype” sales letters and my sales went down by 43% during that testing period. There are very few products that can be sold using a “Level Headed”, “Dry”, “Hype-Free”, sales approach. Marketing Hype sells!
