Jeremy Schoemaker: From Macintosh Gaming to ShoeMoney System and His Coke Theory Success

Jeremy Schoemaker or famously known as “Shoemoney” is the famed guy with a photo holding six-figure check he earned in just a month from Google AdSense. He surely is one of the inspiring rags-to-riches stories today. Born in Illinois, he lived a struggling life when he was a kid due to extreme obesity and so became a computer techie to escape social life. After graduating high school, he worked in an Internet Service Provider (ISP) company which then further advanced his skills in computer. After quitting the job, he studied college and made his first business, a Macintosh gaming website. Soon, he was flooded by companies for his service and he earned more than he’d imagined. But that didn’t last when he was doomed by the dotcom crash. He started again from peanuts until in 2003, he ventured into the blogging trend with his well-known site today called the ShoeMoney.

He first developed Next Pimp (2004), a ringtone online company which made huge money. Together with David Dellanave, AuctionAds was launched in 2007 and it eventually became a turning point in his career. It is an eBay service that provides auction ads and listings in a contextual widget and later on won the Best eBay Star Developer Award. He is the CEO of the company but after a month, his enterprise was bought by Media Whiz. Rumors say that it was sold for $17 Million. He also became the President of the site Fighters, mixed martial arts community and website providing a venue for users to upload and host their videos.

Currently, Jeremy Schoemaker is the president of Shoemoney Media Group, a company that caters to advertising and marketing services apart from selling products. His business model is the “Coke Theory” which explains a simple Coke can be profitable by making another product such as cherry Coke, Diet Coke etc. He believes that opportunities and trends should be embraced and an angle must be looked upon and exploit it for profit. Narrow marketing concepts can be maximized by making another diversified concept from it. SMG is the main site which is subdivided into peripheral sites for his products. Focusing on his skills is one of his success secrets. He also believes that when there is sufficient traffic and profits, making an effort to change the web design can make a huge change. Embracing new approaches can help a business grow. Placing ads, affiliate marketing and frequent subscription can increase the income without affecting the gross revenue.

Jeremy Schoemaker ventured on the Internet marketing training bandwagon which he called the ShoeMoney System. It is a subscription based course that provides wide array of videos covering topics on SEO marketing, affiliate marketing and social media. It is not an intensive coaching on marketing techniques because it is suited for Internet marketing beginners

There are several downsides on ShoeMoney System. One is its subscription-format wherein canceling and re-subscribing won’t begin from where you left. If you re-subscribe, you will have to start all over again which is a total waste of money and time. Apart from that, his system is costly which makes interested beginners shy away from the training. In addition, the absence of discussion boards and forums hinders interactive aspects and for the most part, it is  “what you see is what you get” when it comes to the teachings.
