I have bought the full internet marketing course that Corey Rudl once produced. Back when I was a total beginner to internet marketing, I really enjoyed reading his course. And I did learn a lot from it. But back then, I didn’t know much so I was easily impressed.
Looking back, my opinion of Cory has changed a lot. I now think he was a very good marketer. I say “Was” because Cory has recently passed away in an automobile racing accident.
In my opinion, Cory Rudl has mastered the art of selling you his products while teaching you at the same time. Nobody does this better than Cory.
You see Corey produces many many products and services. And most of products and services he recommends, are his own. My question to Cory would have been this: How is it possible that every product and service you make is the best?
I don’t really need to ask him that questions because I think I know the answer. Mr. Rudl would make many attempts at getting your cash through clever little ads. But then again, that’s what the job of a marketer is so I can’t knock him for that too bad.
All though it’s standard practice with internet marketers, I still don’t like when I pay my good money for a marketing course, and the author is trying to sell me a whole bunch of stuff inside it. I wouldn’t mind so much if he didn’t make profit from the items he’s trying to sell me, but since it’s very clear that he is profiting, I did feel let down after finishing the materials I received from Mr. Rudle.
It would be like if you bought a dvd movie at full price and there were commercials in it. You bought the movie purely for entertainment or education, and you paid extra to have no commercials, but you got them anyway.
I give a lot more credit to the marketing gurus that recommend the best products and just use the root domain name of the company they are recommending.
For instance, I think it’s better for me to just go ahead and tell you that I love web position gold and you can get it at: www.webposition.com
But when Cory Rudle recommends things, he will most often use a link like www.CoryRudl.com/webPosition
The moment I see him using a link like that, I know that he’s making a profit from it and tracking it. Again, I should say this is pure genius because of how clever it really is, but I still don’t appreciate it when it’s being done to me. So call me a hypocrite if you want.
If you are recommending a product or service that you believe is the very best on the internet, then there is no reason to track your results. Just tell your readers about the company and tell them the actual link of the company that makes it.
This is called doing something without getting paid, and I think Cory Rudl needs to apply this idea to his writing more often.
