What is a "Back End" product?

In case you don’t already know, a “Back End” product is usually a more expensive product or service you sell that helps increase your profits. But the main thing a “Back End” product does is to help pay for the cost of your advertising. Let me give you an example. Let’s say I wrote a book and I charge only $9.95 for it.

Now let’s say I advertise that book in a magazine and the ad cost me $500.00 but I only sell about 50 copies. Well obviously if I sold 50 copies of a book that cost $9.95, I only got back $497. That means I lost money from that ad since it cost me $500.00. This means I come out of that deal negative $3 because I would have needed to make at least $500.00 just to cover the cost of my ad to break even.

Now what if I told you that I would actually be happy if I got 50 orders from that $500.00 ad? How could I be happy if I ended up losing $3 you ask? Well, that’s where the “Back End” product comes into the picture. You see, what I didn’t tell you is that inside my book I’m selling for $9.95, I am briefly mentioning this course that sells for around $300.00. And I know that for every 50 copies of my $9.95 book I sell, at least 10 people end up wanting the $300.00 course I talk about in the book. And usually at least 10 people out of 50 order it.

Since 10 X 300 = $3,000.00 that means I made a total of $3,497.00 from that original $500 ad I placed. Not too bad when you consider I just made $3,000.00 pure profit from a $500.00 ad. And I did it with the power and help of my “Back End” product. So you can now see why the term “Back End” is so popular among marketers. It’s really how all the big money is generated. You simply must have back end products if you want to make “Real, Serious” income!

Back end products are easy to find! You simply need to find expensive products with a high mark-up that are closely related to the first product you offer. You only need one back end product. But the more you have, the more money you’ll make. You can even make a back end product by simply improving upon your first product and creating a deluxe version of that first product that is much better and gets even better results than the first. Then if you’re reader likes the first product, he/she knows the deluxe one is going to be even better. And so your customer doesn’t mind paying a lot more for the new, bigger, and improved version that has many more features.
